Attractions in Paris 1 – The Eiffel Tower

 

Your visit of Paris will not be complete w/o seeing to the Eiffel Tower.  But , as it is the tallest structure in Paris, at 320 plus meters, you are sure to see it even as you go around the city.
Constructed by Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 Exposition Universelle, it is now more than 120 years old. Visited by almost 7 million tourists annually, more than 250 million visitors have seen it already. It certainly makes it one of the most visited structures in the whole world.  And it is always a main attraction in many Paris vacation packages being offered to tourists visiting the city.

Situated on the Champ de Mars in Paris, it is bordered by the trees and grass at the Champ de Mars park on the one side, and the Trocadero Fountains, and the River Seine at the other side. It’s probably one of the most photographed structures too, and here’s one snapshot to add to the millions taken already.

Attractions in Paris 2 – The Louvre Museum

With annual visitors of more than 8 million a year, the Louvre Museum is probably the most visited museums in the whole world, and another of the most popular tourist attractions in Paris France. Located on the Right Bank of the Seine in the 1st arrondissement (district), it houses Egyptian antiquities, near Eastern antiquities,
Greek, Etruscan, and Roman objects, Islamic art, sculpture, decorative arts and painting. The museum is so huge, one can spend a week exploring its displays, which grew from 537 paintings since its opening on August 10, 1793, to about 35,000 objects today. Also a popular tourist attraction is the Louvre Pyramid, a glass pyramid situated in the Louvre Palace.

Attractions in Paris 3 – The Notre Dame Cathedral

Constructed in 1345, the Notre Dame Cathedral is probably one of the most popular churches in the world.
With its exact address at 6 Parvis Notre-Dame, Place Jean-Paul II, is actually a Marian church, which is built to venerate the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Cathedral is an example of French Gothic architecture, and houses a reliquary containing the purported crown of thorns, a fragment of the True Cross and one of the Holy Nails.
It also houses 5 bells, an organ with 7,800 pipes, a museum and a gift shop. Best time to visit is during the low season, October-March, to avoid huge crowds and long lines.

Attractions in Paris 4 – The Arc de Triomphe

A famous monument in Paris, the historical Arc de Triomphe sits at Place Charles de Gaulle.
Construction started on the arc on 15 August 1806, and commissioned by Napoleon to commemorate his victories, but it was completed after his ouster, and in fact, 36 years later, in 1836 during the reign of Louis-Philippe.
Tourists who have visited the arc recommend climbing it to get a good view of Paris from the top of the arc.
